ISLAM AZZI
Islam is a M.Sc. student in nutrition at the Université de Montreal under the supervision of Malek Batal. He completed a B.Sc. in Biology at Algiers 1 University, then specialized during his M.Sc. in Applied Chemistry, focusing on the depollution and ecological valorization of agri-food industries wastes back in Algeria, his native country.
Passionate about scientific popularization and the valorization of traditional knowledge in improving food environments, he joins the CIENS team on the food project in Ecuador to study the importance of traditional foods (knowledge, production, and consumption) on the health of agroecological women farmers involved in alternative food networks.
