​Since 2020, the Hôpital Solidaire project has adopted a social food prescriptions (SPF) approach, where healthcare professionals distribute meal cards and community resource kits to outpatients of the CIUSSS du Centre-Sud-de-l'Ile-de-Montréal (CSSMTL) who suffer from severe food insecurity. This research project, led by Professor Geneviève Mercille at the Université de Montréal in partnership with the CSSMTL's Direction des services techniques as well as Carrefour solidaire - Centre communautaire d'alimentation, aims to evaluate the program's implementation, its adoption by health professionals, its ability to reach the most marginalized populations, and its short-term effects on food security.
